New years, an annual celebration of the end of a year and welcoming a new one. A time for learning from old mistakes, and making new goals. A time of growth and maturity. A time where we can start over fresh and renewed.
Now I never have been much of a new years resolution kind of person. It just seems the same for so many people, you make a resolution just to break it. That's like replacing all the windows in the house just so you can throw a baseball at them. As for me my resolution for years has always been to eat healthier. After about two weaks of choking down vegetables I say the famous words "I'll try again next year". Although this year I have made 3 RESOLUTIONS.
I know what your thinking, if you can't keep one how are you going to keep three. You know what they say "three times the charm". But this is different although I will try to eat healthier like maybe using fat-free dressing on my double decker, or maybe using lowfat orange julius's. I'm open to a wide variety of things. I will be sticking to these resolutions because I feel they are life changeing.
(1) Read More. I will be honest I hate reading. I am the kind of person that has to read one paragraph 10 times before I get it. I try and it is just a fail. So why would I make this my resolution? I think you can become a stronger person overcoming your dislikes (different story for anything that's green and taste like the dirt and maniure it grew in). Also you can become much more literate in your speaking. Although I am very wise and anyone who knows me will tell you that (cough cough). So the goal is to read 20 books by the end of the year, at least. I will be starting with Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. In the words of my Aunt who is a talented author, "Nothing like starting hard".
(2) Read the Bible. As for being a Christian each year I want to do more and more to bring to glory to by Heavenly Father. I have read much of the Bible including part of the Penateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leveticus), Poetry books, the Gspels, the letters of Paul, and Revelations. It goes back to that reading thing, I am reading small parts as my nightly devotional. It is so cool the way the program is set up. It skips around each day has its own theme: the law, poetry, Gospel, epistles, psalms, prophets, and history. I am already gaining a lot from this.
(3) Test My Artistic Ability. As an artist I always want to grow and test myself and see all I can do. We all have our arts and we all have our passions. We all branch out on these and this is how we find where our niche in life is. As for me I am a performer, but there is so much more I want to do. If I can do something I want to know. God has given us talents to use, not to keep hidden away. I intend to use mine for what He wants. That's exactly why I am trying this blogging, because blogging is a form of art. Writing in general is a form of art. It is more than just words, it is taking words and comparing them to your heart and expressing them in a unique way.
So I think we have a lot to expect for 2011 and I wish the very best to all of you and hope you continue to follow my blogs. I will be trying to do this once a week depending on my schedule. Also if you have a great blog section let me know and I will read it and subscribe if I enjoy it. Thanks so much and God bless.
